Valladolid, Spain’s former capital, is chosen for the Aito 2024 conference, promising an engaging and authentic experience.

    • The Specialist Travel Association (Aito) selected Valladolid during its AGM in London, introducing an offbeat location ideal for exploration.
    • Keynote speakers praise Valladolid’s rich history, vibrant squares, and unmatched local cuisine, highlighting its appeal to visitors.
    • Travel arrangements are efficiently planned with options for flights to Madrid and high-speed train connections to Valladolid.
    • The event promises attendees a unique insight into Spanish culture, with activities like walking tours, cycling, and wine tasting.

Valladolid, the former capital of Spain before Madrid, has been announced as the venue for the Aito 2024 overseas conference. The decision was revealed at the Specialist Travel Association’s (Aito) AGM in London on April 18. This annual gathering will be hosted at the Felipe IV hotel from November 21-24, providing a unique opportunity for delegates to experience a destination less frequented by British tourists.

Aito’s executive director, Martyn Sumners, expressed enthusiasm, describing Valladolid as a ‘perfect’ conference destination due to its historical significance and culinary delights. He stated, “I think it’s going to be a very exciting destination for Aito to go to. There will be so many things for people to do: walking, cycling, wine tasting.” Such remarks underscore the city’s ability to blend professional engagement with cultural exploration.

Providing further insight, Manuel Butler, UK director of the Spanish Tourist Office, emphasised Valladolid’s authentic Spanish lifestyle. He noted, “We will be very honoured to welcome Aito there. It is not a tourist city. Here you will find real people and the real Spain.” This sentiment reflects the city’s charm, characterised by its historic centre, great food, and exquisite local wines.

Arrangements for travel are thoughtfully considered. Flights are available to Madrid, from which attendees can travel to Valladolid via a high-speed train service, taking approximately an hour. Additionally, exploratory talks are in progress regarding train travel from the UK directly to Valladolid, highlighting a commitment to accessibility and convenience.

Accommodation for the conference is conveniently located within walking distance of Valladolid’s railway station, enhancing ease of access for delegates. The Felipe IV hotel will serve as the central hub for both business sessions and personal relaxation, ensuring a seamless conference experience.

The Aito 2024 conference in Valladolid offers an enriching blend of professional and cultural experiences, set against a backdrop of authentic Spanish charm.
