The Advantage Travel Partnership has appointed Simon Ferguson as the new technology advisor for its global business travel division.
Ferguson, a former president at Travelport and founder of Travolution, brings a wealth of experience in travel technology to this role.
Simon Ferguson’s new position involves assisting with the strategic direction of technology adoption within the business travel division. He will also have the potential to expand his remit across the wider group.
Working closely with technology partnership manager Stephen Baxendale, Ferguson will provide essential support in assessing new technological enhancements and offering guidance on technology strategy.
Ferguson spent nine years at Travelport, a leading travel distribution technology company, where he held significant roles in Europe and the US.
His tenure at Travelport culminated in his position as president for the Americas, a role he held until May 2020, demonstrating his extensive expertise in the industry.
In addition to his new role at Advantage, Ferguson serves as a senior vice president at Modaxo, a prominent technology provider.
Andrea Caulfield-Smith, Advantage’s global business travel managing director, hailed Ferguson’s expertise, stating he is exceptionally well-placed to influence and guide the company’s technology agenda.
She emphasised his ability to unlock opportunities and elevate Advantage across the technology ecosystem through discussions, panels, and steering group activities.
Ferguson’s appointment aims to ensure Advantage remains at the forefront of technology advances in the business travel sector.
He will function as an independent advisor, focusing on the adoption of cutting-edge technology to enhance the overall travel experience for Advantage’s clients.
Ferguson previously served as the publisher of Travel Weekly when it was under Reed Elsevier, and was instrumental in Clive Jacobs’ acquisition of the publication in 2009.
He also founded Travolution, a digital travel publication, in 2005, showcasing his longstanding commitment to innovation in travel media and technology.
Ferguson is anticipated to contribute significantly to Advantage’s technology strategy, leveraging his extensive background and innovative vision.
The collaboration with Ferguson is expected to provide deep insights into new technological trends and advancements that can benefit the company and its members.
