A dedicated team of travel agents from Hays Travel undertook an impressive fundraising walk to support men’s mental health awareness.

The five-strong team walked over 18 miles from their branch at The Rock shopping centre in Bury to Manchester Airport, raising a significant amount for Andy’s Man Club along the way.

The Journey from Bury to Manchester

Earlier this month, a group of five agents from Hays Travel embarked on a rigorous walk, spanning over 18 miles from their agency located at The Rock shopping centre in Bury to Manchester Airport. This journey took them through various scenic and urban landscapes, showcasing their determination and physical endurance.

Covering the distance in eight and a half hours, the team successfully completed their mission. Their efforts resulted in raising £700 for Andy’s Man Club, a charity focused on men’s mental health and suicide prevention.

    Support for Andy’s Man Club

Andy’s Man Club is a renowned men’s suicide prevention charity that provides free peer-to-peer support groups across the UK. These groups are accessible both in person and online, offering a space where men can openly discuss their mental health struggles.

Brian Wiggins, lead facilitator at Andy’s Man Club Bury, expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “Andy’s Man Club are so grateful to have been chosen as Hays Travel Bury’s designated charity for 2024. It’s great to have the support of such a great team as we continue to raise awareness and show men that it is indeed ‘okay to talk’.”

    Reflections from Hays Travel Bury

Louise Stewart, the branch manager of Hays Travel Bury, shared her pride in the team’s achievement, saying, “I’m so proud of the team for completing the walk and raising so much money for Andy’s Man Club.”

Stewart also remarked on the challenge, “It was a long day, but we wanted to do something that pushed us out of our comfort zone and raise as much money as possible.”

    Hays Travel’s Commitment to Community

Each year, Hays Travel’s 490 branches are allocated a £500 budget to support fundraising and charity work within their local communities. This initiative demonstrates the company’s dedication to social responsibility and community engagement.

Over the past year, the Local Community Partnership initiative within Hays Travel’s retail network has donated more than £140,000 to various local charities. This substantial contribution highlights their ongoing commitment to making a positive impact at a local level.

The Impact of Local Fundraising Efforts

Local fundraising efforts like the walk undertaken by Hays Travel Bury play a crucial role in supporting charities and raising awareness about significant issues. The funds raised help organisations like Andy’s Man Club to continue their vital work.

Such initiatives not only provide financial support but also foster a sense of community and collective effort, encouraging more people to get involved in charitable activities. It showcases the power of local actions in making a substantial difference in societal issues.

How to Support Andy’s Man Club
