Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Holiday Lounge stands as a testament to resilience and success in the travel industry.
Founded by Paul Moss in 2004, the Midlands-based agency has expanded significantly, now operating four branches and employing 23 staff members.
Paul Moss established the first Holiday Lounge branch in Hinckley, Leicestershire, on June 18, 2004. The initial team comprised Moss and his operations director.
Over the years, the agency has grown to four stores in Leicestershire, increasing its team from two to 23 employees, demonstrating significant business development.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary, Holiday Lounge hosted a charity ball at Hinckley Golf Club. The event attracted 150 guests, including loyal customers and suppliers.
The celebration featured a three-course dinner and various entertainment activities, making the occasion memorable.
Managing Director Paul Moss expressed his pride, stating, “It is a massive achievement for an independent agency to last 20 years, especially after everything the travel industry has been through in that time.”
The agency has shown remarkable performance, particularly since the pandemic, with 2023 being its best trading year ever.
Moss is optimistic about 2024, hoping to surpass the previous year’s success. He emphasised the importance of loyalty from both customers and suppliers, noting that 80% of sales are with nine tour operators.
Although there are plans to expand, Moss wants to ensure the growth is manageable, highlighting the importance of having the right staff.
During the anniversary celebration, an auction raised over £10,000 for charity, surpassing their initial goal of £6,000.
The funds will benefit the neonatal unit at Leicester Hospital and the Albion Foundation, which supports under-privileged children in collaboration with West Bromwich Albion Football Club.
Moss praised the dedication and kindness of customers and partners for their generosity.
Moss attributes the agency’s success to the loyalty of its customers and suppliers.
He stressed that the celebration was a way to give back to those who have supported the business over the years.
The strong relationship with suppliers has been a cornerstone of Holiday Lounge’s business model.
Looking ahead, Moss has some potential opportunities for further expansion but intends to proceed cautiously.
He aims to grow the business sustainably, ensuring that the quality of service remains high.
Moss concluded, “We are a slow burner and we will grow accordingly. It’s all about getting the right staff on board.”
Holiday Lounge has made a significant impact on the local community through its charitable initiatives.
The partnership with the Albion Foundation illustrates the agency’s commitment to social responsibility.
Their efforts in supporting local charities have garnered positive recognition and support from the community.
Holiday Lounge’s 20th anniversary not only marks a significant milestone but also underscores its resilience and commitment to excellence.
With a strong foundation and loyal support from customers and suppliers, the agency is well-positioned for continued success and growth.
