easyJet, a UK-based European regional airline, has launched flights between Edinburgh and Verona last week.
The new service is the only direct winter connection between the two cities. Flights will operate twice a week throughout the year on the airline’s A320 family aircraft, eight of which are currently based at Edinburgh. Seats are available for booking, with fares starting from GBP23.99.
Verona will offer tourists a cultural getaway experience, as the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its romantic artistic heritage, famous opera house and medieval architecture. Verona airport also provides a scenic lakeside break, providing direct connections to resorts surrounding Lake Garda.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: ‘We remain committed to expanding our network from Scotland and this is a particularly exciting addition to our base at Edinburgh. We are confident the new service to Verona will provide a popular addition to easyJet’s network.
‘In total easyJet now serves 41 destinations from Edinburgh spanning the UK and Europe and this new route will complement our existing network of leisure and business flights.’
Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport said: ‘Verona is one of Italy’s most picturesque cities and we’re now able to add that touch of festive magic to it as we add Scotland’s only direct winter connection to Verona.
‘We once again welcome easyJet’s commitment to Edinburgh Airport and we’ll continue to work with them to explore other exciting options and deliver yet more choice for passengers.’
