Following strong demand from holidaymakers, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have extended the season to Malta, with flights operating in the winter period from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and London Stansted Airports for the first time since Winter 19/20.

In addition, the companies have also extended the season to Malta from Manchester Airport. With nearly 6,000 additional seats going on sale, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are increasing capacity to Malta by over 60 percent, compared to Winter 21, offering customers and independent travel agents more choice and flexibility.

Situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, Malta is one of the smallest countries in the world but rich in culture and offers much for exploration. Surrounded by centuries-old walls with grand mansions and lush gardens, holidaymakers can discover the UNESCO-stamped capital Valletta and the ages-old silent city of Mdina. There are also Malta’s seaside resorts including Mellieha Bay, St Paul’s Bay and Qawra, offering stretches of rocky coast and sheltered bays.

As per the expansion, Jet2 is extending Monday services from Birmingham to November 28, 2022 and will restart from February 13, 2023. At Leeds Bradford, the Wednesday services will operate from March 1 2023; and at London Stansted, the Thursday service has been extended until November 24 2022 and restarting from February 16, 2023. At Manchester, Thursday services have been extended to November 27, 2022, restarting from March 2 2023 onwards. Accordingly, Jet2 will be offering up to two weekly flights (Thursday and Sunday) from the base in November and March.

Steve Heapy, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays CEO, said: ‘Since the return of international travel, we have seen strong and sustained demand. As always, we have responded to that demand by extending the season to Malta from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted and Manchester Airports and offering flights up to the end of November and restarting again in March. It means we are operating services to Malta in the winter period once again from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and London Stansted Airports, giving customers and independent travel agents even more opportunity to enjoy or offer a holiday in the sunshine. With customers continuing to jump at the chance to book and travel on their well-deserved holidays, we are confident that these new services to Malta, coupled with our award-winning customer service, will prove very popular.’

Malta International Airport CEO Alan Borg said: ‘We are delighted that the United Kingdom will be benefitting from increased connectivity to Malta in the off-peak months through Jet2.com’s vote of confidence in our islands. Besides mild and sunny winters, Malta has plenty to offer to visitors in terms of historical attractions, cultural events, and a burgeoning culinary scene. We look forward to continue to work with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays to develop much-needed capacity on routes to the United Kingdom so that we may see our once-strongest market back at the top of our leader board.’
