    The Highest-Rated Museums and Galleries in Italy REVEALED

    In a new study conducted by travel experts, Pompeii Tickets & Tours, Italy’s most highly rated museums and galleries have been identified.

    The study utilised TripAdvisor to identify Italy’s highest-rated museums and galleries, considering museums with a minimum of 1,000 reviews.

    Italy is a popular holiday destination renowned for its attractions, authentic cuisine, and rich culture. Many travellers begin their journey with a visit to one of the country’s numerous museums and galleries.

    In first place is the Sidereus Museum, a specialised aerospace museum located in Salerno. The museum has 1,000 five-star reviews out of a total of 1,035, translating to a percentage of 96.62%.

    Visitors who rated the museum five stars described it as a ‘unique and super interesting experience’ and ‘an incredible walk through the stars.’

    In second place is the Palazzo Colonna Galleria Colonna, an art gallery in one of Rome’s oldest and largest private palaces. The gallery has 958 five-star reviews out of a total of 1,097, resulting in a percentage of 87.33%.

    Visitors described the experience as ‘art, history, and a visitor experience second to none’ and ‘an oasis of beauty in the centre of Rome.’

    Museo Della Porziuncola ranks third, an art gallery and museum located in Santa Maria degli Angeli. The museum has 1,599 five-star reviews out of 1,838, resulting in a percentage of 87.00%.

    Some of the five-star reviews state that the museum is an ‘amazing and spiritual experience’ and a ‘must-see religious landmark!’

    The fourth highest-rated museum is Welcome To Rome, a multimedia experience that explores the city’s rich history. The museum secures 1,196 five-star reviews out of 1,375, resulting in a percentage of 86.98%.

    Visitors described the museum as an ‘exceptional way to learn Rome’s history!’ and a ‘perfect start to a first visit to Rome for families.’ 

    Galleria Borbonica, a famous museum that takes visitors through the new section of the Naples underground, is in fifth place with 9,167 five-star reviews out of 10,747, resulting in a percentage of 85.30%.

    Visitors stated that the museum is a ‘fascinating underground treasure in Naples!’ and an ‘excellent, interesting tour with a superb guide.’

    In sixth place is Stanze Di Raffaello, also known as ‘Raphael’s Rooms,’ located in the Vatican. It has 1,051 five-star reviews out of 1,250, resulting in a percentage of 84.08%.

    Visitors have stated that ‘Raphael is one of the greatest painters of all time, and here is his masterpiece.’ Other reviewers call it the ‘best part of the Vatican.’

    Museo Delle Arti Sanitarie, a small museum located in a 16th-century hospital in Naples, is in seventh place with 869 five-star reviews out of 1,036, resulting in a percentage of 83.88%.

    Some five-star reviews have stated that the museum is an ‘unforgettable visit’ and a ‘fascinating display of historic medical items.’

    Ranked eighth is the Ex Stabilimento-Florio delle Tonnare di Favignana e Formica, a museum in Isola di Favignana showcasing the history of a large ancient tuna fishery in the Mediterranean. It has received 4,684 five-star reviews out of 5,648, resulting in a percentage of 82.83%.

    Visitors of the museum reviewed it as ‘perfect storytelling about a society built on tuna fishing’ and ‘the reason to visit Favignana.’

    Museo Cappella Sansevero, a chapel located in Naples built in the late 1500s, is ninth, with 18,290 five-star reviews out of a total of 22,336, resulting in a percentage of 81.89%.

    Some five-star reviews stated that it is ‘breathtaking, stunning, and incredible’ and an ‘extremely impressive, wonderful museum.’

    Finally, in tenth place is the Museo Nazionale Archeologico, which translates to the ‘National Archaeological Museum’ located in Taranto. It has 1,068 five-star reviews out of 1,317, resulting in a percentage of 81.09%.

    Some five-star reviews state that the museum is ‘an extraordinary archaeological collection from the local area’ and a ‘must-see while in Taranto.’

    Speaking on the findings, Magdalena Petrusic, a travel expert from Pompeii Tickets & Tours, said: 

    “These findings demonstrate the rich history and culture that Italy offers its visitors. With a wide range of museums and galleries to explore, travellers can gain a deeper understanding of the country’s heritage.
