Jet2.com, a UK-based low-cost airline operating out of Leeds Bradford Airport, has announced the commencement of its service to the island of Ibiza, in Spain.
The airline celebrated its initial flight to Ibiza with a party for its passengers at Glasgow Airport, in Scotland. The party featured DJ Fox MacLeod, from Karbon nightclub in Glasgow, who regaled the partying passengers with up-tempo music.
Ian Doubtfire, the airline managing director, said, ‘We are delighted to be sending our passengers off in style to Ibiza with a real party atmosphere at the airport. The island has proved incredibly popular from our other UK departure points, and the same can be said for Glasgow following its launch in March last year. Glasgow is an important base for us and our strong growth of destinations across Jet2.com and Jet2holidays shows our continuing commitment to the region’s travellers.’
The flights to Ibiza are priced at inaugural rates commencing from GBP43.99 one way. Passengers can also avail of holiday packages from Jet2’s sister company, Jet2holidays.
Ibiza is popular with tourists for its summer club parties, although the Spanish government is also keen to promote the destination as a family holiday spot.
Apart from its new Ibiza service, the airline is currently offering flights to the beach destinations of Bodrum, in Turkey, and Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands, for airfares commencing at GBP53.99, from Glasgow Airport. Jet2holidays is also offering vacation packages to these destinations, for prices commencing from GBP369 per person. The vacations are inclusive of direct return flights, a 22kg baggage allowance and accommodation at a three-star hotel.
