Flybe, a Europe-based independent regional airline, has announced its summer schedule for 2014, approving the operation of over 150 routes from 65 UK and European airports between March 30 and October 25, 2014.

Flybe says that it is offering services in line with customer needs and that the schedule reaffirms its constant commitment to the regional economies of the UK, with fares starting at just £19.99 one way, including taxes and charges.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s chief commercial officer said: ‘We recently announced that we would be reconfiguring our route network as part of a carefully planned strategy to optimise our operations. We have since taken a long hard look at all the routes we fly to make sure that our new schedule is what our customers really want and that they operate at the best possible times for everyone. The extent of our confirmed regional network, with more than 150 routes on sale for next summer, means that no other airline has the regional and onward international connectivity offered by Flybe.’

As part of the recent reconfiguration of its route network, the airline said that it will withdraw 30 routes, of which 14 normally operate for summer only.

Of the 30 routes that are set to be withdrawn, Belfast City to Paris CDG will operate until January 19; Bristol – Jersey until January 07; East Midlands – Paris CDG until January 13, Exeter – Newcastle until March 28, Glasgow – Shannon until January 05; Hannover – Southampton, Leeds Bradford – Southampton, Cardiff – Glasgow; Cardiff – Paris CDG and Glasgow – Paris CDG until January 19.

However, the airline added that two routes – Cardiff Paris CDG and Glasgow Paris CDG – will operate between Feb 20 and 24 to serve those travelling to Six Nations rugby matches.

Additionally, the airline plans to withdraw 14 routes that are operated only in summer, including: Exeter – Barcelona, Southampton – Barcelona; Belfast City – Jersey; Bristol – Isle of Man; Edinburgh – Knock; Exeter – Nice; Isle of Man – Jersey; Isle of Man – Luton; Isle of Man – Southampton; Jersey – Luton; Jersey – Newcastle; Limoges – Newcastle; Newquay – Norwich and Southampton – Beziers.

London Gatwick has already announced ending routes to Belfast City, Guernsey, Inverness, Isle of Man, Jersey and Newcastle by March 30, 2014.

Passengers affected by the route withdrawals are being contacted and offered, where possible, an alternative Flybe flight or a full refund on their ticket, Flybe said.
