    Honouring Nigel Bishop Former Guild of Travel & Tourism Leader

    Nigel Bishop, the former chief executive of the Guild of Travel & Tourism, has passed away at the age of 82.

    His dedication to the travel and tourism industry has left an indelible mark, and he is remembered fondly by colleagues and friends alike.

    Nigel Bishop’s involvement with the Guild of Travel and Tourism began when the organisation was founded in 1994. Over the years, his commitment to promoting best practices and supporting professionals in the industry has been invaluable.

    He served as the chair of the transport advisory committee and was a chamber council member at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These roles underscored his deep commitment to the travel and tourism sector.

    Before his tenure with the Guild, Bishop made significant contributions as the UK business manager for British Airways. His leadership and insights were instrumental in guiding the company’s business operations within the UK market.

    Weatherhead fondly recalled how every Christmas, Bishop organised a lunch for The Institute of Travel Managers at the RAF Club in Piccadilly, marking it as a highlight of the year. Such traditions underscored his commitment to fostering camaraderie and support within the industry.

    The funeral for Nigel Bishop is scheduled for Monday, May 13, at 10 am at the Church of Our Lady of Grace and St Edward in Chiswick. The service will be followed by cremation at Mortlake Crematorium and a gathering at The Black Lion pub.

    Those who knew Bishop are invited to attend the services to pay their final respects and share their memories of a man who made significant contributions to the travel industry.
