Jet2 has reported continued resilience in package holiday pricing, despite evolving market conditions. The company has observed strong momentum in late bookings, signalling robust demand.

As summer 2024 progresses, Jet2 notes an increase in seat capacity, up by 12.4% compared to 2023. This growth has facilitated a modest rise in package holiday prices, reflecting a healthy market trend.

    Summer 2024 Sales Performance

The summer of 2024 has marked a period of strong demand for Jet2, with a notable 12.4% increase in seat capacity. The airline’s data suggests that July and August experienced significant late booking momentum, which has positively impacted overall performance. The typical load factor is now only 1.2 percentage points behind the same period in 2023.

Jet2 reports an 8% increase in package holiday customers, accounting for 70.2% of total departing passengers. Meanwhile, flight-only passengers have risen by 17%, demonstrating the broad appeal of Jet2’s offerings. Package holiday pricing remains resilient, showing a modest increase over the previous year.

    Winter 2024-25 Outlook

Forward bookings for the winter 2024-25 season show a promising trend, with the average load factor 0.8 percentage points ahead of winter 2023-24. This is occurring alongside a substantial 15% increase in seat capacity to 5.14 million seats.

Jet2’s package holiday mix has increased by 1.9 percentage points. Early pricing trends indicate a modest increase, further enhancing Jet2’s financial outlook for the upcoming winter season.

    Uncertain Profitability Guidance

Despite positive booking trends, Jet2 has refrained from providing definitive profitability guidance for the financial year ending March 2025. The company cites the incomplete summer months of September and October and the substantial capacity yet to be sold for winter 2024/25 as factors contributing to this cautious stance.

Currently, the business is trading in line with management expectations. However, Jet2 plans to provide a further update during its interim results in November 2024.

    Growth Projections for Summer 2025

Jet2 has already commenced sales for summer 2025, forecasting a 6.4% growth in seat capacity. Early indicators suggest the average load factor is slightly ahead of summer 2024, suggesting a favourable reception from consumers.

This trajectory highlights Jet2’s strategic focus on expanding its market presence and leveraging its current momentum.

    Customised Offerings for Football Fans

Jet2.com has strategically added capacity to its Manchester programme to cater to football fans. New flights have been scheduled, including a service from Manchester to Vienna on September 30, supporting Manchester City fans traveling to the Champions League match in Bratislava.

These efforts include additional flights to Barcelona and Porto, aimed at accommodating Liverpool and Manchester United supporters respectively, showcasing Jet2’s agility in market responsiveness.

By catering to specific travel needs, Jet2 enhances its brand loyalty and captures niche markets, reinforcing its competitive edge in the industry.

    Strategic Business Developments

Jet2’s strategic business developments continue to align with management’s expectations, as evidenced by resilient pricing in the package holiday sector. The focus remains on enhancing customer experience and expanding service offerings.

The airline’s commitment to market adaptability and customer-centric strategies positions it favourably for sustained growth in a competitive landscape.

    Enhanced Capacity for European Football

In addition to existing offerings, Jet2 has announced flights supporting team travel across various European destinations. This move exemplifies a strategic approach to increase market reach while ensuring customer satisfaction.
