Manchester Airport has reported a significant passenger surge in April, reaching over 2.4 million travellers, thereby surpassing the previous April record. This remarkable achievement underscores the airport’s status as a key player in the UK’s aviation sector.

In April, Manchester Airport recorded a remarkable influx of over 2.4 million passengers, surpassing its previous record set in April 2019 by 25,000. This achievement represents an increase from 2023’s 2.2 million passengers. The airport attributed this surge to popular flight destinations such as Dublin, Amsterdam, and Dubai, as well as holiday hotspots including Alicante and Tenerife.

Holiday destinations were also in high demand, with Alicante and Tenerife welcoming 78,694 and 72,324 passengers, respectively. These figures highlight the diverse range of choices available to travellers departing from Manchester.

Eurowings recently launched its inaugural flight from Manchester to Stuttgart, adding to Manchester’s growing list of routes to Germany alongside Dusseldorf and Hamburg. This new route is timely, anticipating increased travel demand with the upcoming Euro 2024 football tournament.

Stuttgart Arena is among the venues hosting the Euro 2024 matches, including a game between Scotland and Hungary on June 23. This has undoubtedly spurred interest in flights to Stuttgart, providing fans and tourists a convenient travel option.

The diverse array of destinations and efficient processing times contribute to Manchester’s growing reputation as a major hub outside London. This growth trajectory reflects broader trends in the recovery of the aviation industry.

Manchester Airport’s April figures mark a significant milestone in its recovery journey, reinforcing its status as a vital UK transportation hub. The diverse destination offerings and passenger-focused services underscore a resilient return to pre-pandemic travel levels.
