Manchester Airport has successfully navigated through a power outage that caused significant disruptions. Efforts have been made to mitigate the impact on passengers.

Airlines, alongside airport staff, have been actively working to manage the aftermath, ensuring flights resume and luggage is reunited with travellers. The situation is closely monitored to prevent future occurrences.

Following a significant power outage that led to numerous flight cancellations, Manchester Airport has resumed normal operations. Passengers were met with delays in security and baggage processing. Approximately 90,000 individuals were affected by the disruption. By late Monday, airport officials confirmed that systems had been restored with no persisting issues. However, the airport is currently experiencing increased activity as airlines work to rebook affected passengers.

The airport is coordinating efforts to reunite passengers with their luggage. Passengers without their bags from Sunday are advised to maintain communication with their respective airlines. Airport staff are collaborating with airlines and ground handling partners to expedite the delivery of the luggage. Many bags have already been successfully redirected to their owners.

Jet2 acknowledged the significant disruptions faced, assuring customers, “Our UK-based ground operations team will work hard to ensure that we get your baggage to you, as soon as we can.” The airline emphasized their commitment to resolving the issue swiftly. Tui similarly issued an apology, confirming its efforts in flying bags to the intended destinations. No flights under the operator were cancelled, though delays were experienced.

Three Tui flights destined for Faro, Paphos, and Larnaca faced a delay of 24 hours, adding to passenger frustrations. The airport recommends that passengers check their flight status online in advance of travel. Standard guidelines advise a two-hour check-in for short-haul and three hours for long-haul departures. Extra personnel are currently on-site to assist with the increased passenger volume.

Airport representatives have underscored the importance of patience from passengers as recovery efforts continue. Passengers are encouraged to follow airline instructions and remain informed about flight statuses. Staff and partners around the airport are actively engaged in managing the situation and ensuring a return to smooth operation.

Manchester Airport has expressed gratitude to passengers for their understanding during this challenging period. Additionally, appreciation was extended to airport staff and partners for their diligence and commitment to restoring operations. This collaborative effort has been critical to mitigating the aftermath of the power interruption.

As a precautionary measure, Manchester Airport suggests passengers remain vigilant and prepared for possible changes. In the event of future disruptions, the airport advises early communication with airlines and following suggested travel guidelines to ensure minimal inconvenience.

The swift response by Manchester Airport and its partners underscores their commitment to passenger satisfaction.

Continued cooperation and communication are essential to ensure stability and prevent future disruptions.
