A-Rosa River Cruises is pioneering a unique offering by becoming the first river cruise line to provide swimming lessons onboard their ship.

This August, in collaboration with Wasserlust Swimming School, A-Rosa will offer beginner and intermediate swimming courses for children aged four and a half to seven on select summer departures.

    A Unique Partnership and Offering

A-Rosa River Cruises is set to make history as the first river cruise operator to offer swimming lessons aboard a ship. Partnering with the Wasserlust Swimming School, the initiative will commence in August on A-Rosa Sena, their flagship vessel. This innovative programme is designed to cater to young cruisers seeking to learn or improve their swimming techniques during their river journey.

    Course Structure and Details

The programme includes two summer holiday departures scheduled for 5 and 12 August. Each session accommodates a maximum of six participants, ensuring individual attention. The structured course comprises six lessons, each lasting 45 minutes, taught by certified swimming instructors.

Beginner sessions are tailored for children with no prior swimming experience, focusing on building foundational skills and water confidence. In contrast, the intermediate courses aim at enhancing technique and endurance for those already comfortable in water,

    Certifications and Costs

Upon completion of the course, children will receive a certificate, marking their swimming progress and achievements. Each six-lesson course is reasonably priced at €100 per child—a worthwhile investment for families prioritizing aquatic education.

Bookings can be made in advance when scheduling the cruise or directly onboard, subject to availability. This flexibility allows parents to conveniently integrate this enriching activity into their family holiday itinerary.

The Importance of Early Swimming Education

Lucia Rowe, A-Rosa UK & Ireland Managing Director, emphasises the initiative’s significance. “We all know how important it is to learn to swim from a young age,” she remarks, highlighting the value of introducing children to water activities early on.

Rowe notes the pandemic’s impact on swim class availability and the current high demand for lessons, making A-Rosa’s offering particularly timely and appealing to families.

    Innovative Family-Friendly Cruising

A-Rosa Sena stands out as the first European river cruise ship with a dedicated kids’ club, ‘Treasure Island’, designed to offer children a blend of entertainment and educational activities.

This initiative underscores A-Rosa’s commitment to pioneering family-friendly innovations within the river cruising industry, distinguishing its services from traditional offerings.

    Broader Market Engagement

Earlier this year, A-Rosa launched its first UK-focused brochure, showcasing the brand’s flexible approach and diverse itineraries for 2023 and 2024. The introduction of swimming lessons is part of A-Rosa’s broader strategy to attract more family-oriented travellers.

This move aligns with A-Rosa’s efforts to redefine river cruising experiences, making them more accessible and engaging for families with young children.

    Conclusion

The introduction of onboard swimming lessons marks a significant milestone for A-Rosa River Cruises, aligning with its strategic focus on family-friendly amenities.

This innovative approach not only enriches the cruising experience for young travellers but also supports parents in fulfilling their educational goals within an enjoyable holiday setting.

With swimming lessons now offered onboard, A-Rosa River Cruises enhances its family-centric approach and commitment to unique travel experiences.

This initiative reflects a blend of leisure and learning, offering families an opportunity to enjoy a memorable and educational river cruise.
