AmaWaterways is set to expand its fleet in an exciting venture on Colombia’s Magdalena river, marking a pivotal moment for the river cruise industry.

Renowned for its luxury and innovation, AmaWaterways is preparing to debut two custom-built ships, AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia, as the first major river cruise line to explore this scenic route.

    Introducing the Magdalena River Cruises

Beginning in March 2024, AmaWaterways will introduce its bespoke itineraries on the Magdalena river, offering travellers a choice between two captivating seven-night journeys: ‘Magic of Colombia’ and ‘Wonders of Colombia’.

With picturesque views integrated into the ship designs, these cruises will navigate between the vibrant cities of Cartagena and Barranquilla, showcasing Colombia’s enchanting landscape and rich cultural heritage.

    Pioneering Luxury and Exploration

Emphasising its ‘pioneering spirit,’ AmaWaterways is thrilled to expand into Colombian waters with its two luxurious river vessels, the AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia.

Rudi Schreiner, co-founder and president, expressed his excitement about these additions to their esteemed fleet, highlighting the unique cultural and environmental experiences slated for their itineraries.

Kristin Karst, also a co-founder, noted that AmaWaterways is committed to providing superior accommodations and authentic local experiences, reflecting the line’s dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction.

    Enriching Guest Experiences

Scheduled for launch on 30 March 2024 and 19 June 2024, respectively, the AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia promise unparalleled luxury.

From elegant cabins to world-class dining inspired by local cuisine, every aspect of these ships is designed to enhance the guest experience.

The company also emphasises immersive engagement with local communities, offering guests a deeper understanding of Colombia’s traditions and natural beauty.

    Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations

The success of this venture is supported by strong partnerships with travel agents and loyal customers who share a passion for discovering new territories.

AmaWaterways continues to leverage these relationships, ensuring that every itinerary is met with enthusiasm and high standards of service.

These partnerships are crucial in executing successful strategies that align with the company’s goals of exploration and luxury.

    Economic and Cultural Impact

This strategic expansion into Colombia is anticipated to boost the local economy by attracting international tourism.

The addition of these river cruises is expected to create local jobs and foster cultural exchange, benefitting both visitors and residents alike.

By choosing Colombia, AmaWaterways is also placing a spotlight on the region’s diverse attractions, from its historic urban centers to its lush natural landscapes.

    Future of River Cruising

AmaWaterways is setting a precedent as the first major river cruise line on the Magdalena river.

This initiative could pave the way for future explorations by other cruise lines, increasing the global visibility of river cruising opportunities in South America.

As the industry looks toward more diverse offerings, this move underscores the potential growth in river cruise tourism beyond traditional routes.

    Commitment to Sustainability

AmaWaterways prioritises environmentally responsible operations, integrating sustainability into their cruise experiences.

The company aims to minimise its carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly tourism practices, enhancing the natural environments of the rivers they explore.

In embarking on this new chapter along the Magdalena river, AmaWaterways reinforces its leadership in luxury river cruising, offering guests unparalleled travel experiences.
