Norwegian Cruise Line has been named Europe’s Leading Cruise Line for the sixth consecutive year at the World Travel Awards.
Francesco Paradisi, Norwegian Cruise Line senior manager for business development, received the award during the 20th annual gala ceremony held in Antalya, Turkey on August 31, 2013.
‘We are thrilled that travel partners and consumers worldwide have chosen us for this award for the sixth year in a row,’ said Kevin Sheehan, chief executive of Norwegian Cruise Line.
‘A Norwegian Cruise Line vacation is all about freedom and flexibility at sea and receiving this prestigious award shows that both industry professionals and guests really appreciate this unique cruise experience and our varied European cruise programme,’ he added.
Voted for by travel agents and customers worldwide, the annual World Travel Awards recognise travel companies that deliver outstanding customer experience, and Norwegian has consistently been honoured with the award since 2008.
In Europe, the cruise line deployed four Freestyle Cruising vessels this summer for the second consecutive year. With a range of sailings from four to fourteen nights, the company will also deploy four ships in Europe for the summer of 2014.
The Cruise Line is also offering agents a bonus commission of 6 percent this month, to promote winter sailings.
Business development director, Nick Wilkinson, said that the extra commission will help increase the cruise line’s market share and demonstrates the line’s support of agents. The cruise line’s new destination campaign is another example of Norwegian’s support for the trade, Wilkinson said. The campaign, launched in August, will highlight a different destination each month and gives agents selling tips.
