Quark Expeditions has unveiled its latest offerings for Arctic exploration in 2026, showcasing two thrilling itineraries. One voyage features a rare total solar eclipse, while the other offers spectacular helicopter tours of Iceland.

    The Total Solar Eclipse Adventure

A highlight of Quark Expeditions’ 2026 offerings is the 13-day journey from Iceland to Greenland, timed perfectly to witness a total solar eclipse. The voyage offers guests the chance to experience the world’s longest duration of the eclipse, lasting two minutes and 17.2 seconds. Participants will travel aboard the Ultramarine, departing Reykjavik on 6th August 2026. This exclusive experience will be further enriched by expert guides, including author and science journalist David Baron and eclipse cartographer Michael Zeiler.

Scenic Journeys Through Iceland and Greenland

Travellers on the eclipse voyage will explore Iceland’s Vestfjords and the pristine beauty of Northeast Greenland National Park. The itinerary includes cruising through King Oscar Fjord, Blomsterbugten, and the Bjørne Islands, offering unique opportunities for wildlife observation and breathtaking scenery. The passage through the Denmark Strait will occur twice, showcasing varied landscapes and diverse ecological zones.

Ultramarine, equipped with state-of-the-art twin-engine helicopters, allows for an aerial perspective of the stunning Greenlandic terrain. These helicopter tours are a unique feature of the expedition, providing insights into the region’s topography that are simply inaccessible by other means.

    Exploring Iceland’s Natural Wonders

Another offering for 2026 is the 12-day Iceland Circumnavigation voyage. This expedition promises an immersive experience of Iceland’s natural marvels, from glaciers and volcanoes to black sand beaches.

Departing on 27th July 2026, passengers will visit iconic sites such as Kirkjufell Mountain and Dettifoss Waterfall. The journey also covers Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Ásbyrgi Canyon, and the volcanic caldera of Krafla, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of Iceland’s geological diversity.

Mercier highlighted the all-inclusive nature of the tours, which feature zodiac excursions and chartered visits to local communities, enhancing the travel experience through education and engagement with local cultures.

David Baron expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am beyond thrilled to join the legendary Michael Zeiler and the best expedition team in the industry for this once-in-a-lifetime journey.” His involvement, along with Zeiler’s, assures participants of a comprehensive guide to the astronomical event and the Arctic’s splendours.
