Riviera Travel has announced a significant shift in its leadership team with the promotion of Sarah Fowler to marketing director starting 1 July 2023. Fowler is set to succeed Simon Michaelides, who is leaving the company due to family commitments.

Sarah Fowler, formerly the head of brand marketing and ecommerce at Riviera Travel, has been promoted to the position of marketing director. In her new role, Fowler will take on comprehensive responsibilities overseeing the company’s brand strategy, marketing operations, web sales, insight, and digital initiatives. Her promotion comes as Simon Michaelides, the previous marketing director, departs due to family circumstances, marking a significant transition within the company’s marketing leadership.

“I’m looking forward to stepping up into my new role and leading the talented marketing team we have in place at Riviera,” Fowler remarked, “These are exciting times for the business, as we look toward the next phase of growth across all channels, including the trade.” Her vision points to a progressive path for the company, as she strategizes initiatives to strengthen its market presence.

Fowler’s previous experience as the UK and Ireland head of marketing and PR at Azamara had equipped her with the expertise required to navigate complex marketing landscapes. Her prior roles have provided her with the skills needed to drive Riviera’s growth strategies effectively. This strategic appointment underlines the company’s confidence in Fowler’s capabilities to execute its ambitious plans.

Michaelides’ decision to leave for family reasons was met with support and well-wishes from his colleagues. He expressed optimism about Fowler stepping into the role, stating, “I’m thrilled that Sarah will be stepping up. She is an excellent marketer, with a bright career ahead of her, and I wish her every success.”
