Silversea’s newest vessel, the Silver Moon, marks a significant milestone as it embarks on its inaugural journey from the famed Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. This event is not only a testament to the cruise line’s commitment to ultra-luxury travel but also a reminder of its enduring legacy in the cruise industry.

Scheduled to launch in 2020, the Silver Moon is poised to redefine luxury cruising with its pioneering features. The vessel promises not only to mirror the elegance of its predecessor, the Silver Muse, but also to enhance it, offering guests an array of new and immersive travel experiences.

    A Celebratory Launch

Silver Moon’s float out from the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy, was celebrated with great fanfare and attended by prominent figures from Silversea and Fincantieri. The occasion included a traditional coin ceremony, symbolising good fortune for the ship and its future voyages. Roberto Martinoli, CEO of Silversea, expressed delight in achieving this milestone with their expert partners.

The ship now enters a new phase of construction, focusing on its interiors. Silversea and Fincantieri’s collaboration highlights the shipyard’s commitment to crafting vessels that push the boundaries of luxury and elegance. This partnership has been vital in bringing Silver Moon to life.

    Innovative Features and Design

Silver Moon boasts a design that echoes the sophistication of its sister ship, the Silver Muse, yet offers enhanced public spaces. The Dolce Vita lounge, Connoisseur’s Corner, Pool Deck, and Spa and Fitness Centre are among the areas receiving comprehensive redesigns to elevate guest experiences.

The ship’s restaurants, including Kaiseki and La Dame, will feature bespoke elements like Lalique crystal panels, promising a dining experience that is both luxurious and unique. Each space onboard is meticulously crafted to reflect Silversea’s high standards of elegance and comfort.

    Gourmet Experiences at Sea

An innovative concept aboard the Silver Moon is the S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste) programme. This culinary journey aims to immerse guests in the flavours and cuisines of each port visited, providing a deeper cultural understanding of destinations through gastronomy.

Under this programme, the ship’s dining venues will feature dishes that highlight local ingredients and traditions. Such offerings promise an authentic culinary experience, enhancing Silversea’s reputation for excellence in fine dining. Guests can expect a new level of culinary exploration during their voyage.

This initiative is part of Silversea’s broader mission to offer travel experiences that are more than just luxurious—they are enriching and transformative.

    Celebrating a Visionary Journey

Manfredi Lefebvre, Silversea’s executive chairman, remarked on the significance of the Silver Moon’s launch, which brings the cruise line closer to his father’s dream of a 12-ship fleet. This event is particularly meaningful, aligning with the company’s 25th anniversary as a leader in ultra-luxury cruising.

With the support of Royal Caribbean Cruises, Silversea aims to continue this expansion, pushing the boundaries of luxury and innovation. The Silver Moon is one of five new ships currently on order, a reflection of the ambitious growth plans set in motion by the company.

    Itinerary and Future Voyages

Silver Moon’s maiden voyage is set for August 2020, departing from Trieste to Rome, with suites still available for this inaugural journey. Following its initial launch in the Mediterranean, the ship will cross to the Americas, embarking on the Grand South America 2021 voyage.

This extensive itinerary includes 37 destinations across 20 countries, offering guests a chance to experience diverse cultures and landscapes. The Grand South America voyage represents not just a journey but a transformative travel experience that Silversea is renowned for.
