Hurtigruten has embarked on a strategic reorganisation within its sales department. This initiative sees two pivotal promotions: Carla Hines has now become the head of sales for the EMEA region, while James Howlett has risen to the head of sales for the UK.

Carla Hines, who began her tenure at the renowned Norwegian coastal brand in July 2023, has swiftly moved up the ranks. Her journey at Hurtigruten is marked by her leadership capabilities and extensive experience gained from her previous role at Royal Caribbean International. Here, she led the sales administration for the EMEA region after starting as a senior trading executive.

James Howlett’s advancement within Hurtigruten reflects his significant contributions since joining in May 2022. Initially serving as partnerships manager, Howlett’s aptitude for driving sales was quickly recognised, leading to his prior promotion to UK sales manager in August 2023.

Iain Powell, formerly of Saga Travel Group, has taken on the role of vice president of sales and marketing for the UK & EMEA. His appointment follows the departure of Anthony Daniels, marking a new era of leadership aimed at strengthening sales and marketing strategies.

Their leadership and expertise have significantly boosted Hurtigruten’s presence not only in traditional markets but also in emerging areas.

The brand’s history and legacy in providing exceptional cruising experiences are core to its strategic plans moving forward.

Strategically, the focus remains on expanding premium offerings, which are increasingly popular among today’s discerning travellers.

The strategic promotions of Carla Hines and James Howlett signal Hurtigruten’s confidence in their leadership and commitment to growth. As the company navigates its new era under refreshed leadership, these appointments are set to drive future successes.
