Dublin Airport has announced that Laudamotion will launch a new service from Dublin to Vienna.

The Austrian airline will operate its year-round, daily service with an Airbus A320 aircraft. Laudamotion is an Austrian low-cost carrier focussing on European city shuttle routes from Vienna, and is part owned by former Formula 1 racing driver Niki Lauda.

Vincent Harrison, Managing Director of Dublin Airport, said, ‘Laudamotion is Dublin Airport’s fifth new airline customer this year and we are delighted to welcome it to Dublin and Ireland. Vienna is a beautiful city that is rich in culture and history and I have no doubt it will be a very popular destination. We wish Laudamotion every success with its new route and we will work closely with its management team to promote this new service.’

Laudamotion’s Managing Director Andreas Gruber said, ‘Laudamotion’s new route between Dublin and Vienna will increase the connectivity between the Ireland and the Austrian capital significantly. The new connection supports the economy as well as offers the opportunity to visit Vienna for reasonable prices. We offer our passengers a customer-oriented tariff concept with an unbeatable price-performance ratio and we are very happy to offer our flights from now on also from Dublin.’

In September 2018, more than 2.9 million passengers passed through Dublin Airport, a seven percent increase on last year, one of the busiest Septembers in the airport’s 78-year history. During the month, passengers travelling to and from continental Europe increased by eight percent as almost 1.6 million passengers travelled to and from European destinations. Nearly 821,000 passengers travelled to and from UK destinations in September, which was a one percent increase over the same period last year. Transatlantic traffic to North America increased by 13 percent in September, as almost 426,000 passengers travelled on this route sector last month.

Meanwhile, the number of passengers in domestic flights has increased by 24 percent, with more than 9,300 people travelling on domestic routes last month.

Dublin Airport has flights to almost 190 destinations in 43 countries, operated by 56 airlines.
