easyJet has unveiled a fresh winter route connecting Bournemouth Airport to Lyon, France.
This new route complements easyJet’s existing winter service from Bournemouth to Geneva, which commenced in December 2021. Travelers in the southern region of England will now have an additional pathway to the Alps, as the airport is conveniently located near popular ski resorts like Tignes, Val d’Isere, Alpe d’Huez, Les 2 Alpes, Val Thorens, and La Plagne.
Nestled at the meeting point of the Rhone and Saone rivers, Lyon ranks as France’s third-largest city and is renowned for its cuisine and stunning architecture. Its four historic districts have earned coveted spots on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said: ‘We are really pleased to be announcing a second winter route from Bournemouth to Lyon today, providing more choice for our customers in the South who are looking to visit the Alps region whether that’s for skiing and other winter sports, or a city break to enjoy Lyon’s impressive architecture, cuisine and history.
‘With flights on sale today, now is a great time to book early to get the best fares and we can’t wait to welcome more customers.’
Steve Gill, managing director at Bournemouth Airport, said: ‘This is great news for passengers and offers them even more choice from their local airport. Winter routes are increasingly popular from Bournemouth and Lyon provides even more connectivity to the Alps this winter.’
The inaugural flights are set to take off on January 13, 2024, and will run each Saturday until February 24, 2024. This schedule aligns with week-long getaways during the ski season and the school half-term break. Flights are on sale with fares from £23.99 one way per person including taxes.
