Monarch, the UK-based budget airline and holiday company, has recently announced the addition of more routes – and over 180,000 seats – to its winter schedule for 2017/18.

The airline has added services to Porto, Stockholm and Zagreb to its winter 2017/18 programme. Additionally, the Lapland holiday programme, which was particularly popular last winter, will also see an increase in the coming winter season. Flights to Lapland from Manchester were added last month and Monarch will now be also offering flights and holidays to Kittila from Birmingham Airport with three and four night packages available for booking now.

Further, the airline said that tickets are now on sale to popular winter sun routes including Almeria, Tenerife and Larnaca. Flights have also been added on ski routes to Grenoble and city break destinations in mainland Spain such as Barcelona and Alicante. Additional ski flights for winter 2017/18 will be added shortly, it said.

Marjan Schoeke, Monarch’s Head of Network Development comments: ‘Following the successful launch of our three new destinations we are delighted to announce they are now on sale for winter and will be flown all year round.

‘Popular city break, ski and winter sun destinations have also been added as we know our customers like to plan their holidays in advance and now there is plenty of choice for customers to book their perfect winter break, whether it be sun, city or ski.’

Separately, Monarch said that it has increased its hold luggage allowance from 20kgs to 23kgs on all beach package holidays this summer. With the additional 3 kgs, customers will now be able to pack even more holiday essentials.

Ian Chambers, Monarch’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: ‘We are continuously reviewing our product offering and looking at how we can improve the holiday experience for our customers. We know that increasing our standard luggage allowance from 20kg to 23kg will be very popular with our customers and be a key reason for customers to book their holiday with Monarch.

‘Customers can enjoy packing for their holiday knowing they have the convenience of the additional 3kgs for hold luggage teamed with Monarch’s generous hand luggage provision – meaning customers can pack their teabags in both hand and hold luggage – just to be safe!’
