Newcastle International Airport has said that it has resumed the route to Bristol Airport following a temporary suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Popular with both leisure and business passengers, easyJet is operating flights between the two cities four days a week throughout May and June, increasing to six days a week from July. Flights are available to book now with fares from £26.99 one way, at easyJet.com.
The resumption of flights to Bristol comes amid connectivity improvement in the region with a total of five airlines operating on key domestic and international routes from the North East’s largest airport. In addition to Bristol, these include Belfast, also with easyJet, Aberdeen and Southampton with Loganair, Amsterdam with KLM, London Heathrow with British Airways and Paris with Air France.
Leon McQuaid, Head of Aviation Development at Newcastle International Airport, said: ‘I am sure many of our passengers will be pleased to see flights resuming to Bristol, providing vital connectivity into the South West of England and South Wales. We look forward to welcoming more passengers back to the airport over the coming weeks and months.’
‘We are working very hard with our airline partners to restore connectivity to these key markets and each destination added to the arrivals and departures board marks another step to the Airport’s recovery.’
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager said: ‘We are pleased to have resumed flights from Newcastle to Bristol from 2nd May, providing key connectivity across the UK and to our customers in the North East. We know that flexibility continues to be crucial for customers so our Protection Promise is now even more flexible, meaning our customers can book with confidence knowing that if they are unable to travel or their plans change so can their flights.’
‘We look forward to being able to reconnect even more people and reunite friends and family across the UK this summer.’
Separately, as international travel resumes, Newcastle International Airport has recently added Turkish airline Corendon Airlines to offer twice weekly services to the popular Turkish sunshine resorts of Antalya and Dalaman from the airport. The services will start in April 2022, with fares from £52.99 one way. Further, Spanish low cost airline, Vueling also confirmed it would be operating direct flights to Barcelona from Newcastle between July and October 2021.
