Ryanair, an Ireland-based low cost airline, has announced the launch of a new route from East Midlands Airport in England, to Cork in the Republic of Ireland.

The new, three times weekly route will commence operations from September 1, 2012, taking Ryanair’s total routes from East Midlands Airport to 37.

The company head of communications, Stephen McNamara, said, ‘Ryanair is pleased to announce a new East Midlands-Cork service starting in September 2012, which will be the 37th Ryanair route operating to/from East Midlands Airport.’

The airline is offering a celebratory fare of £12.99 for one million seats on flights to European destinations in July 2012.

The airline also intends to offer a new route from East Midland to Zadar, in Croatia, from July 2, 2012. Other new routes that the airline has recently commenced from East Midlands Airport include Barcelona (Spain); Almeria (Spain); La Rochelle (France); Corfu (Greece); Chania (Crete); and Rhodes (Greece).

The airline is currently offering new routes from Cork, to Alicante (Spain), which commenced from June 2, 2012; to Barcelona Reus (Spain) from June 1, 2012; to Bordeaux (France) from June 1, 2012; Carcassonne (France) from June 2, 2012; La Rochelle (France) June 3, 2012; and to Pisa (Italy) from June 1, 2012.

Ryanair has previously launched a separate website for hotel bookings, RyanairHotels.com. The new website is a collaboration between the airline and HotelsCombined.com, an Australia-based hotel price comparison search engine, and it offers a portfolio of around 300,000 hotels across Europe.
