Arctic Adventures Opens 2025–2026 Ice Cave Season for Winter Explorers

Arctic Adventures has officially opened the 2025–2026 ice cave season, inviting travellers from around the world to experience Iceland’s extraordinary winter landscapes. From October through April, guests can step into naturally sculpted ice caves and winding glacier tunnels across Iceland, guided by the company’s expert local guides.

Iceland’s true beauty lies beneath the surface. Entering an ice cave reveals a serene world where the only sound is the soft crunch of boots on frozen ground. Blue light filters through translucent crystal walls, often streaked with ribbons of black volcanic ash — striking reminders of the country’s dynamic geological history.

Each ice cave is unique and fleeting, reshaping itself every winter as freezing conditions carve new chambers that melt away by spring. This natural cycle ensures no two visits are ever the same, although travellers can also enjoy guided glacier experiences all year round.

“Our team is thrilled to welcome guests into these ever-changing natural wonders. Our glacier guides have in-depth knowledge of the area and ensure each adventure is as safe as it is unforgettable.

In partnership with the Nature Conservation Agency of Iceland, Vatnajökull ice cave tours run from October to April, but guests can also explore Iceland’s glaciers year-round on Sólheimajökull, Langjökull, or Mýrdalsjökull.” — Amy Elizabeth O’Rourke, Product Manager at Arctic Adventures.

Arctic Adventures continues to blend safety, education, and awe-inspiring natural beauty to deliver unforgettable journeys through Iceland’s glacial landscapes.

    • Skaftafell Blue Ice Cave—Brilliant-blue natural tunnel accessible by hiking across Europe’s largest glacier, available from October to April.
