Flybe, the European regional airline, has expanded its 2016 summer programme from Southampton Airport with the introduction of two new routes to Biarritz and Toulon Hyeres, and the return of flights to Bastia for peak summer.

While Biarritz is known as a surfing capital of Europe, Toulon Hyeres – on the Cote d’Azure – is a popular tourist destination and Bastia, located on the northern tip of the French island of Corsica, is a renowned ferry and cruise ship port.

The new routes from Southampton to Biarritz will be effective for travel from July 3 to September 25, 2016 operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Routes to Bastia will operate on Sundays and will be effective for travel from May 22 to September 18, 2016, while the new Southampton to Toulon Hyeres route will be effective for travel from July 2 to September 12, 2016. The Southampton to Toulon Hyeres route will operate on Saturdays as well as on Mondays/Sundays (July 17 – September 12).

Seats are available for booking at www.flybe.com from £34.99 including taxes and charges. The new summer routes provide an additional boost to Flybe’s existing high frequency schedule from Southampton.

Southampton Airport MD, Dave Lees, said: ‘The summer season is always a fantastic time for us and it is excellent news that Flybe will be offering two brand new routes to Toulon and Biarritz in France for the summer as well as bringing back flights to Bastia and the popular sun routes to Alicante, Malaga, Palma and Faro. Whether people are looking for a city break, stag or hen weekend, family resort or beach holiday, they can reach it all from their local airport.’

The latest expansion comes after Flybe’s announcement last week of the return of its popular sun routes from Southampton to Alicante, Malaga, Palma Mallorca and Faro as well as extra frequency on a number of services, including those on its French regional services.

With the expansion, the Flybe 2016 summer schedule from Southampton now offers a total of 28 routes and offers passengers a choice of up to 329 flights a week to a wide range of holiday destinations.
