Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks has said that it has advanced the start of scheduled services for trips and holidays to Iceland, to the beginning of September 2021.

With Iceland expected to be on the UK Government’s Green List, holidaymakers may travel to the country from as early as September 2 with Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks. With the latest announcement, customers will have increased choice of scheduled services to Iceland from Manchester Airport this year, in addition to scheduled services from Birmingham Airport.

Perfectly timed for the Northern Lights, Jet2 will operate twice-weekly services from September 2 (Manchester) and September 30 (Birmingham) until November 22, 2021. In addition, scheduled services will operate from February 10, 2022 right through the summer season to November 10, 2022 from Manchester Airport, as well as from February 10, 2022 through to April 25, 2022 from Birmingham Airport.

Besides the natural wonders of Iceland, this offers great choice and flexibility with stays of three-nights or more available over the February half-term, October half-term and Easter. In addition to this programme of scheduled flights, Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks are operating 37 three and four-night dedicated trips to Iceland from seven other UK bases (Belfast International, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle and London Stansted Airports).

With 15 trips planned between September and November 2021, and a further 22 trips between February and April 2022, customers will have plenty of choice for visiting Iceland at the best times of year for experiencing the Northern Lights. All flights to Keflavik International Airport near Reykjavik will be operated by Jet2.com.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: ‘We are seeing strong demand for flights and holidays to Iceland, as customers look to enjoy its beauty and natural wonders after a year of lockdowns and restrictions. Iceland is expected to be on the UK Government’s Green List, and as we are seeing right across the board, when customers have clarity they are booking in huge numbers. With a great programme of scheduled flights operating from Manchester and Birmingham, in addition to 37 once-in-a-lifetime trips from seven of our other UK bases, customers have great choice and flexibility when it comes to visiting this bucket list destination.’

Guomundur Daoi Runarsson, Chief Commercial & Airport Development Officer at Keflavik Airport said: ‘We at Keflavik Airport are delighted to hear of Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks decision to expand their Iceland programme and look forward to a bright future and a strong continuation of our great relationship. We continue to see growing interest in Iceland as a destination post Covid-19 and the recovery looks very promising. The UK market was important before the start of the pandemic and that will continue.’
