European airline Wizz Air has announced the introduction of a fresh route from London Luton Airport to Cairo, Egypt, starting from October 30, 2023.

This new travel option opens up opportunities for UK travellers, connecting them to Sphinx International Airport in Cairo. From there, they can explore the captivating city of Giza, known for its historic significance with landmarks like the Great Pyramid and The Great Sphinx, both dating back to ancient times.

Cairo, a dynamic modern city steeped in history and situated along the iconic Nile River, offers a mix of contemporary living and traditional culture, featuring local music, delectable cuisine, and scenic river tours.

Marion Geoffroy, Managing Director of Wizz Air UK, said: ‘Our routes from Egypt to the UK are fast becoming some of our most popular, so we are delighted to be offering passengers more ways to explore this culturally rich destination. From Sphinx International Airport, travellers have so much ancient history at their fingertips to discover. With slightly cooler temperatures in winter, it’s the perfect time to explore this vibrant destination as part of our new winter schedule.’

Jonathan Rayner, Chief Commercial Officer at London Luton Airport said: ‘Providing our passengers with even greater choice is key to the simple and friendly passenger experience that we offer. We are delighted to announce the launch of flights from London Luton Airport to Sphinx International Airport, offering passengers an exciting new choice of destination and the opportunity to visit some truly breathtaking and iconic landmarks.’

The new flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, catering to a range of schedules, with fares starting from £53.99 for a one-way trip. Travelers can benefit from Wizz Air’s WIZZ Flex feature, which allows them to cancel flights up to three hours before departure without incurring any fees and receive a full fare refund in the form of airline credit.
