Starting his role in January 2025, Van Eyck steps into the position held previously by Russell Platt, who is now the general manager at the Cadogan in Chelsea, part of the esteemed Belmond group.
Having led the Balmoral, a Rocco Forte Hotel in Edinburgh, for three years, Van Eyck’s experience is underscored by the hotel’s recent achievement of earning two Michelin keys, a testament to his leadership and aptitude in managing luxury accommodations. With academic credentials from the prestigious Hague Hotel School, Van Eyck’s career also includes noteworthy stints at Sheraton Edinburgh and with Marriott in Rotterdam.
Franck Arnold, the regional vice-president and managing director at the Savoy, expressed enthusiasm about Van Eyck’s appointment, highlighting his extensive skillset and deep understanding of guest needs essential for maintaining the high standards expected at the Savoy. Additionally, the Savoy is in the midst of a significant renovation process, with the refurbishment of its rooms and suites that started in August and will culminate in a new look to be introduced by August 2025.
