Arctic Adventures has proudly renewed its Vakinn accreditation, attaining the esteemed Gold-Class certification within the tourism services category. This accolade highlights the company’s enduring dedication to safety, sustainability, and ethical standards, while continuing to deliver memorable experiences for travellers.

The company has maintained the Vakinn Environmental Certificate for many years, and in 2025 successfully passed its latest audit. This achievement grants Arctic Adventures the highest level of quality and environmental recognition available in Iceland’s tourism industry.

Vakinn is a national program designed to identify and promote responsible travel operators. Granted by the Icelandic Tourist Board, the certifications are based on criteria developed together with stakeholders in the industry.

A company labeled Vakinn Gold-Class is officially recognized for:

    • Operating ethically and professionally, ensuring safe and respectful touring experiences.
    • Prioritizing sustainability by minimizing environmental impact and supporting nature conservation.
    • Educating guests and staff on safety, conservation, and responsible travel practices.

We are committed to building on these efforts by continually improving sustainable operations, reducing waste, and offsetting carbon emissions. We hope to inspire others and set new standards for mindful travel in Iceland.

“We see this certification not as a finish line, but as a reflection of how far we’ve come together. Our colleagues, our partners, and our guests all play a role in protecting Iceland’s natural wonders, and we’re proud to keep raising the bar as a team.” — Francois Denis, Head of Health & Safety at Arctic Adventures.
