The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is actively seeking consumer insights as it reevaluates the existing Package Travel Regulations (PTRs).

The initiative intends to incorporate over 150 industry responses, aiming to establish regulations that benefit both small and large enterprises.

The DBT is conducting a comprehensive review of the UK’s Package Travel Regulations (PTRs), spurred by a substantial industry response to a call for evidence initiated last September. This process seeks to replace the current Package Travel Directive with an updated framework that reflects the evolving dynamics of the travel industry. The review aims to create a regulatory landscape that meets the needs of both small businesses and large enterprises, facilitating balanced and equitable growth.

The emphasis is on capturing consumer perspectives to ensure that new proposed regulations not only align with industry practices but also resonate with consumer needs. Such a holistic approach aims to enhance consumer confidence in travel transactions.

Aside from consumer feedback, the DBT is consulting various industry experts to validate the proposed changes and ensure they effectively address current market realities.

Consumers will be specifically questioned about the significance of financial protection in their decision-making process during holiday bookings.

It reflects a commitment to a methodical, evidence-driven process that prioritizes industry stability and consumer trust.

Both industry expertise and consumer concerns are crucial in shaping responsive, efficient financial protection regulations.

The DBT’s initiative to engage both industry stakeholders and consumers marks a pivotal step in redefining travel regulations.

The review of the Package Travel Regulations underscores the importance of financial protection and consumer input for robust industry regulations.

By factoring in diverse perspectives, the DBT strives to craft a regulatory environment that is both inclusive and forward-thinking.
