The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism has unveiled a new rewards programme to bolster UK trade relations.

    • This programme expands upon previous initiatives, offering financial incentives for bookings on various Bahamian islands.
    • Travel agents can earn between £10 to £20 per qualifying booking, encouraging greater engagement.
    • The programme is supported by My Booking Rewards, which connects over 15,000 UK agents.
    • Strategically aligned with increased demand, this initiative aims to streamline travel to The Bahamas.

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) introduces a fresh incentive programme to enhance collaboration with UK travel agents. This strategic move is designed to strengthen ties and support tourism growth by providing financial rewards to participating agents.

The newly launched rewards programme builds upon existing incentives, focusing on bookings across 115 licensed properties located in Nassau, Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island, and the Out Islands. Agents from the UK and Channel Islands can earn £10 per qualifying booking for stays of six nights on Nassau and Paradise Island, while bookings of a minimum of four nights on Grand Bahama Island or the Out Islands reward agents with £20, based on double occupancy.

This initiative successfully integrates with the online platform My Booking Rewards, offering travel agents a streamlined process for logging their bookings and accessing incentives. As a widely-utilised network, My Booking Rewards connects over 15,000 UK agents, facilitating a comprehensive reach within the industry.

Direct flights from major UK cities, provided by British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, make travel to The Bahamas convenient and accessible. British Airways operates daily flights from London, while Virgin Atlantic offers services twice a week via the United States and Canada. This connectivity aligns with the Bahamian government’s intent to make the destination an attractive option for both agents and tourists.

Latia Duncombe, director general of BMOTIA, commented on the heightened interest in The Bahamas, stating that targeted marketing has significantly raised the islands’ profile in the UK. “Scheduled direct non-stop daily flights from the UK makes getting to our destination easy and hassle-free,” she remarked, highlighting the importance of accessible travel.

Echoing Duncombe’s sentiments, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Investments and Aviation, Isaac Chester Cooper, emphasised the critical role that UK travel agents play in the ongoing growth of Bahamian tourism. Cooper stated, “With the launch of the Bahamas Travel Agents Rewards Programme today, we aim to deepen our relationship with UK travel professionals by making it easier and more rewarding for agents to close bookings to The Bahamas.”

This new rewards programme represents a strategic effort to fortify relationships between the Bahamas and UK travel agents, driving tourism growth.
