Caledonian Leisure expands its portfolio with another UK acquisition.

    • The New Southlands Hotel in Scarborough adds 55 rooms to the group’s assets.
    • Caledonian Leisure’s turnover hits £55 million, marking a 40% growth over last year.
    • Graham Rogers highlights the hotel’s alignment with their customer-first approach.
    • The firm plans to offer unique packages through various channels including digital platforms.

Caledonian Leisure has announced the acquisition of its fourth hotel in the United Kingdom, strengthening its position in the domestic travel market. The purchase of the 55-room New Southlands Hotel in Scarborough expands the company’s in-house property portfolio, which already includes locations in Arrochar, Blackpool, and Torquay. This strategic addition underscores Caledonian Leisure’s commitment to enhancing its offerings in key UK destinations.

The newly acquired property will be renamed The Caledonian New Southlands Hotel, reflecting its integration into the company’s branding. The hotel, situated in a popular tourist spot, is expected to benefit from increased footfall and further reinforce Scarborough’s appeal as a leading holiday destination in the UK. Graham Rogers, managing director of Caledonian Leisure, commented, “The Caledonian New Southlands Hotel in Scarborough is the perfect addition to The Caledonian Hotel Collection as we continue to expand our portfolio of hotels in key UK destinations.“

In the fiscal year of 2023, Caledonian Leisure reported an annual turnover of over £55 million, which represents a remarkable increase of 40% compared to the previous year. This financial success is a testament to the company’s effective strategies and its focus on customer satisfaction. The acquisition is poised to further bolster this upward trajectory by attracting more customers to the region.

Graham Rogers has stated that the hotel is renowned for providing excellent accommodation coupled with warm Yorkshire hospitality. The emphasis on a customer-first ethos aligns with Caledonian Leisure’s operational philosophy and aims to deliver an enhanced hospitality experience.

The acquisition enables the company to offer a variety of packages tailored to the guest experience at The Caledonian New Southlands Hotel through its established brand channels, digital platforms, and a network of travel agents. This comprehensive approach is designed to increase accessibility and allure for both existing and potential customers.

This acquisition marks a significant step in Caledonian Leisure’s expansion strategy, bolstering its presence in pivotal UK destinations.
