Three influential women at Abta have been recognised in the Women in Trade Associations Powerlist 2024. Their inclusion highlights their significant contributions and unwavering dedication to the travel sector. Recognised on International Women’s Day, the powerlist celebrates exemplary women who champion their fields and support their colleagues.

Angie Hills, Abta’s head of destinations, is one of the honoured experts. Hills has been instrumental in providing key support during crises, including last year’s wildfires in Rhodes and Corfu. She facilitated essential forums for information exchange between Abta members, government departments, and authorities in both Greece and the UK. Her leadership in non-competitive matters such as health, safety, and security has been pivotal. Hills remarked, “Being named on the powerlist is a wonderful endorsement of our work…to support our members not just during a crisis but with other important aspects of their business.”

Vicki Wolf, known for her expertise in education and career development, has been a driving force in maintaining and expanding post-16 education options for those pursuing travel and tourism qualifications. Her creation of a working group led to significant advancements, even as government policies threatened funding cuts. Wolf expressed her commitment, stating, “I’m passionate about giving youngsters the necessary training to develop skills so they can enjoy a rewarding career in the travel industry.”

Emma Brennan, overseeing media and communications, has been at the forefront during tourism-related emergencies. Her prompt and effective media presence provided clarity during crises such as the Greek wildfires and the August bank holiday air traffic control outage. Brennan’s efforts were highlighted by her impressive volume of media engagements, reflecting her role in delivering accurate information and managing public expectations.

These achievements underscore the pivotal roles women play in advancing and supporting the travel industry.
