Community Tourism Bolstered by New Donation Scheme

An innovative initiative encourages community tourism through matched donations.

    • Customers booking tours will automatically contribute £5 per traveller to a non-profit organisation.
    • The travel brands, Just You and Travelsphere, will match each donation made by their clients.
    • Planeterra Foundation, working since 2017 with the travel brands, supports this cause.
    • This initiative aims to enrich global communities by enhancing tourism experiences.

An innovative initiative has been launched by the group touring specialists Just You and Travelsphere to promote community tourism by implementing a match-for-match donation scheme. Clients booking tours with these brands are automatically opted into a £5 contribution per traveller, directed towards the not-for-profit Planeterra Foundation. This effort is voluntarily matched by Just You and Travelsphere, doubling the impact of each donation.

Planeterra Foundation has been collaborating with Just You and Travelsphere since 2017, and this new initiative significantly amplifies their mission. According to Planeterra’s president, Jamie Sweeting, “Our mission is to use tourism as a catalyst to improve people’s lives, protect their natural environments, and celebrate their culture.” The involvement of these brands is pivotal in expanding the outreach and impact of the foundation’s work.

Customers retain the choice to opt-out of this contribution during online transactions or telephonic bookings. The introduction of this programme is a strategic enhancement of the existing Just You Cares and Travelsphere Cares schemes, both of which have been active for a decade.

G Touring’s managing director, Adam Kemp, articulated the broader vision: “We aim to make a positive impact on both our customers and the places we visit. Since 2017, we have been working in collaboration with Planeterra, uplift communities through travel, creating economic opportunities and celebrating cultures.” As such, the organisations strive to provide meaningful experiences that support global communities they visit.
