Destination Canada has unveiled an innovative rewards programme aimed at travel agents, offering attraction passes to enhance their personal understanding of Canadian destinations. This initiative is designed to encourage expertise and passion for promoting Canada as a prime tourist location.
Travel agents participating in the Canada Specialist Programme (CSP) can earn these exclusive rewards by achieving platinum status, which not only broadens their professional capabilities but also provides them with unique personal experiences. Agents can monitor their progress online, and upon reaching the required level, they receive a personalised badge and access to the rewards programme.
The incentives include attraction passes that allow agents personal access to iconic locations such as Toronto’s CN Tower and the Huron Wendat Museum in Quebec. Moreover, agents can enjoy the Banff VIP Alive Pass, Winnipeg Attractions Pass, and Montreal Discovery Pass, among others, enriching their insight into Canada’s diverse attractions.
Participating tourism organisations like Tourism Whistler, Tourism Vancouver, and others, contribute to this programme, offering a broad spectrum of experiences and supporting materials for agents to use in their professional development.
Adam Hanmer, Travel Trade Manager at Destination Canada, emphasised that the programme’s mobile accessibility and continuously updated content aim to reinvigorate agents’ enthusiasm for Canada. “Experience has shown us that providing agents with the means to access tourism experiences for themselves is a key force in ensuring the industry is able to sell Canada to their clients,” Hanmer remarked.
Agents have responded positively, with Debbie King from Travel Counsellors stating, “Canada’s training is among the best that the industry offers.” Independent agent Julie Hendrikson also appreciated the programme, noting the substantial assistance received in planning itineraries involving Canadian cities.
The programme exemplifies Destination Canada’s commitment to empowering travel agents with comprehensive tools and experiences to effectively promote Canada.
