EasyHotel has announced a significant investment to improve energy efficiency across its EU locations.

    • The budget hotel group is targeting an 18% CO2 reduction by the end of the year.
    • The initiative involves a €1.5 million investment across hotels in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain.
    • Energy-efficient upgrades, such as heat pumps and LED lighting, are central to the strategy.
    • The move aligns with EasyHotel’s commitment to low-carbon, affordable hospitality.

EasyHotel is set to enhance its energy efficiency strategy with a major €1.5 million investment aimed at reducing the carbon footprint in nine of its European properties. The plan is part of a broader commitment by the budget hotel group to achieve an 18% reduction in CO2 emissions by the end of the year. The focus of this initiative extends to locations in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain, including cities like Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Maastricht, Paris, Rotterdam, and The Hague.

The strategy involves significant upgrades to energy systems, notably the installation of heat pumps and LED lighting. These improvements are expected to contribute substantially to the reduction of carbon emissions, showcasing the group’s ongoing commitment to sustainability in the hospitality industry.

This initiative follows a recent £4.5 million investment in the UK, where EasyHotel aims to cut its carbon footprint across 12 properties by 2025, reflecting its strategy to align its operations with sustainable practices.

Karim Malak, the chief executive, highlighted the efficiency of their compact rooms, which require less material for construction and heating. He stated, “Our size-efficient rooms use less materials in the construction and heating, and our brilliant basics such as four-star mattresses, super-fast wi-fi and blackout curtains are designed to give guests a great night’s sleep without any unnecessary extras.”

Malak further explained, “In our mission to become the first choice for low-carbon affordable hotels in Europe, it is important to introduce further measures to improve upon our carbon emissions, both for us and our guests.” This statement underscores the dual focus on sustainability and guest experience, integral to EasyHotel’s operations.

The strategic investment ensures that guests across all locations can enjoy stays that align with affordable and sustainable values, reinforcing EasyHotel’s position as a leader in low-carbon hospitality.

EasyHotel’s strategic investments in energy efficiency reflect its commitment to sustainability and guest experience across Europe.
