Fred Holidays has addressed concerns following the collapse of American Queen Voyages.

    • The British operator confirms there’s no affiliation with the defunct cruise line.
    • Fred Holidays reassures agents about the ongoing operations with American Cruise Lines.
    • Support is offered to those with existing bookings on American Queen Voyages.
    • Light Blue Travel also provides alternatives or refunds to affected customers.

Fred Holidays issued a statement following the collapse of American Queen Voyages, a major player in the river cruise sector, to clarify its position in the industry. Fred Holidays, the UK representative for American Cruise Lines, made it clear that it has no connection to the defunct American Queen Voyages, despite similarities in their offerings. The agency expressed sympathy for those affected by American Queen’s sudden cessation of operations.

The company has been receiving numerous inquiries from agents and has sought to reassure them that American Cruise Lines, with which it is affiliated, remains operational. Fred Holidays highlighted its commitment to assisting agents and passengers who may be left in difficult situations due to the closure of American Queen Voyages. Their team of river cruise specialists is ready to offer support, whether it’s to help with existing bookings, re-book on similar products, or provide advice on cruise packages.

Meanwhile, Light Blue Travel, which acts as the UK and Europe representative for American Queen Voyages, confirmed the company’s collapse and announced their strategy for managing the fallout. Light Blue Travel’s managing director, Rupert Thomson, announced that customers with bookings may choose either a refund or to rebook on an alternative cruise. Thomson emphasised that funds are secure and held in designated accounts within the UK, ensuring customer protection amidst the disruption.

Despite the unfortunate collapse of American Queen Voyages, Fred Holidays and Light Blue Travel remain committed to supporting affected customers through secure alternatives.
