The JG Travel Group has significantly expanded its travel offerings in Scotland, responding to increased demand for unique travel experiences.

    • New Viking heritage tours have been introduced, providing travellers with an immersive exploration of the Shetland Islands.
    • The Great Scottish Highland Railways coach breaks have seen a doubling in available departure dates this year.
    • A new set of departures for the popular Hebridean Adventure by air has been added, highlighting Scotland’s untouched landscapes.
    • These expansions reflect a surge in interest for remote and culturally rich destinations in Scotland.

JG Travel Group has expanded its Scotland tour offerings due to heightened demand from travellers seeking unique experiences. The company’s additions include a new six-day Voyage of Vikings tour, which delves into the Viking heritage of the Shetland Islands. This immersive tour offers an opportunity to explore the second largest island, Yell, and the most northerly inhabited island, Unst, home to the world’s largest concentration of Viking longhouses. Guests will also have a full day to discover the main island of Shetland, including notable sites such as Scalloway, Jarlshof, Sumburgh, and Lerwick.

The group’s tour operator brands, Just Go Holidays and National Holidays, now provide the new Viking tour with departures starting from 19th September and 3rd October 2024, priced from £949. This cost includes return coach travel, two days of full exploration of the islands, excursions, five nights of half-board accommodation, and visits to Loch Lomond and Edinburgh.

Moreover, the Great Scottish Highland Railways coach breaks have been expanded from four to eight departure dates. After the initial dates sold out, new departures have been scheduled for 25th August, 15th September, 19th September, and 3rd October. This tour promises a showcase of the Scottish Highlands, featuring scenic journeys on the Kyle Railway Line, Strathspey Steam Railway through the Cairngorms National Park, and a trip on the Jacobite Steam Train, notable for crossing the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct featured in the Harry Potter films.

Additionally, three new departure dates have been added for the eight-day Hebridean Adventure by air: 10th August, 6th September, and 5th October 2024. This tour traverses the stunning isles of Skye, Lewis, and Barra in the Outer Hebrides, providing an insight into some of Scotland’s most breathtaking and remote landscapes.

Claire Dutton, Trade Sales Manager, commented on the rising interest, saying: “Such has been the demand for Scotland that we’ve had to create new tours and add additional capacity onto existing ones so agents can keep selling them. Exploring the wilder, more rugged areas is clearly appealing to customers, and these itineraries make it easy to visit some of the most remote parts of Scotland and see just what makes them so incredible.”

JG Travel Group’s expanded itineraries highlight a growing interest in Scotland’s remote and culturally rich sites.
