Luxury cruise bookings have surged, according to Global Travel Collection, as consumers shift from all-inclusive resorts.

    • Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Norwegian fjords are among the top preferred cruise destinations for travellers.
    • Increasing preference for longer cruise durations is being observed, from the standard seven days to 12-18 days.
    • Clients are booking far in advance, with some planning as early as 2026.
    • A focus on small ship cruising is gaining popularity, especially among luxury clients seeking authentic experiences.

Global Travel Collection, part of Internova Travel Group, has observed a significant increase in luxury cruise bookings, indicating a shift in consumer preferences away from traditional all-inclusive resorts. The Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Norwegian fjords have emerged as the most popular destinations, with Caribbean itineraries particularly favoured for the Christmas period. Additionally, interest in Far East and South American cruises is expected to grow from November to February.

Experienced travel advisor Debbie Arnold highlights this shift, noting that clients are moving towards extended cruise durations, with voyages now lasting between 12-18 days at sea compared to the usual seven days. Arnold notes that her clients often book their next cruise while still on their current trip, emphasizing the proactive planning becoming commonplace among cruise enthusiasts.

Francesca Mendola, Vice President, points out that many luxury travellers seek new experiences beyond all-inclusive resorts, with ultra-luxury cruising becoming increasingly attractive. Small ship cruising is noted for providing a more authentic experience, aligning with current luxury client desires. The growth in cruise bookings has been described as exponential, with advisors reporting remarkable success.

The agency is actively enhancing relationships with cruise lines and offering comprehensive training to independent advisors. This initiative aims to support advisors in diversifying their sales and enhancing their capability to effectively promote and sell cruise packages. Mendola envisions a promising year ahead, with expectations of substantial growth in the luxury cruise sector.

The burgeoning interest in luxury cruises demonstrates a clear shift in travel preferences, with long-term planning and authentic experiences at the forefront.
