    • Industry leaders urge the government to acknowledge tourism’s economic value.
    • The Tourism Alliance emphasises the need for supportive policies.
    • “Realising the Potential” manifesto outlines growth strategies.
    • Cross-government cooperation is essential to advance the sector.

Emma McClarkin, the chief executive of the British Beer and Pub Association, has stepped into the role of chair at the UK Tourism Alliance. She succeeds Tom Jenkins from the European travel association Etoa, marking a significant leadership transition within the organisation.

Key industry figures advocate for government recognition and backing of Britain’s tourism sector. New initiatives are spotlighted to ensure the comprehensive understanding and support of tourism’s economic and social impacts across governmental departments.

The Tourism Alliance has articulated the necessity for policies that encourage sustainable growth within the sector. This sentiment is echoed in McClarkin’s statement about the key role of tourism in economic planning.

The Alliance highlights its “Realising the Potential” manifesto, which presents multiple strategies for governmental support. By implementing these proposals, they aim to bolster tourism’s contribution to the UK economy.

Executive Director Richard Toomer expressed eagerness to collaborate with McClarkin and advisory council members in executing the agenda for the upcoming parliamentary term. The organisation is poised to align with government strategies to foster economic expansion.

The Tourism Alliance underlines the critical need for an integrated governmental approach to fully realise the sector’s potential.
