Norwegian Cruise Line is making waves with its ambitious 2026 European itinerary plans, offering travellers more options than ever before.

    • The new itineraries focus on port-intensive experiences, reducing sea days to maximise time in culturally rich destinations.
    • Key highlights include debut visits to Portree, Leirvik, and Palamos, and Helsinki’s debut as a homeport.
    • Overnight stays and open-jaw departures add flexibility for enriching pre- or post-cruise explorations.
    • A robust schedule across 11 ports promises comprehensive coverage of 10 European countries.

Norwegian Cruise Line is transforming its European offerings for summer 2026 with week-long itineraries that have minimal or no sea days, presenting travellers with an opportunity to deeply explore European cultures. By focussing on port-intensive sailings, the cruise line aims to enhance guest experiences with 22 overnight stays included in their extensive 225-cruise programme across 150 ports.

This new approach includes a tour of iconic cities, such as Reykjavik, Copenhagen, and Istanbul, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the local culture and history. Gary Anslow, the regional vice-president, highlighted the variety in cruise duration, from seven-day trips to more extended adventures, stating, “We take pride in offering our guests various options to plan where they want to vacation.”

Excitingly, NCL will make its first-ever stops at locations like Portree in Scotland, Leirvik in Norway, and Palamos in Spain. Another significant change this season is Helsinki becoming a homeport. These new routes are expected to attract both new and returning cruisers, offering fresh perspectives on lesser-known yet captivating destinations.

The northern Europe agenda showcases the Norwegian Sun on Baltic voyages from Copenhagen and Helsinki, with regular stops in Norway, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, and Sweden. Furthermore, Norwegian Sky will offer open-jaw sailings from Le Havre and Copenhagen beginning April 19, 2026, providing guests the freedom to explore further with overnight stays in Hamburg.

Travellers will witness the grandeur of the British Isles on select cruises, with special routes designed to visit Portree, enriching the cultural and scenic experience. Additional nine to ten-day voyages on the Norwegian Viva will focus on the Western Mediterranean and Greek islands, enhancing NCL’s appeal in these sun-drenched locales.

Returning favourites include the Norwegian Epic, which will continue serving guests from both Barcelona and Rome, and the Norwegian Dawn, which provides enriching journeys between Barcelona and Lisbon. The Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Pearl will further extend NCL’s comprehensive European tour offerings by visiting Venice and Piraeus respectively, ensuring a broad spectrum of cultural and exploratory opportunities.

Norwegian Cruise Line is poised to redefine European cruising in 2026, offering diverse and enriching itineraries for all traveller types.
