    • His leadership witnessed an impressive 28% increase in visitors during the first half of 2024.
    • The successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022 was a pivotal milestone under Dickinson’s guidance.
    • Expressions of gratitude to global partners underscore his role in fostering international tourism collaborations.

Philip Dickinson has announced his departure from his role as vice-president of international markets at Qatar Tourism. This move is seen as Dickinson seeks ‘new opportunities’, following a successful tenure marked by widespread achievements in the tourism sector.

Appointed in 2020, Dickinson’s leadership at a time when global travel faced unprecedented challenges due to the pandemic set the stage for Qatar’s ambitious tourism growth. His strategic vision helped navigate this era of uncertainty, enabling the sector’s robust recovery and expansion.

Central to this journey was the hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, a landmark event that drew a significant influx of visitors. This not only showcased Qatar’s exceptional hospitality but also facilitated the rise in international tourist numbers, from 2.1 million in 2019 to an impressive 4.05 million in 2023.

Throughout his tenure, Dickinson emphasised the importance of collaboration with global travel trade partners. He openly expressed gratitude for the immense support received, particularly highlighting partnerships within the UK and beyond, which were instrumental in achieving such substantial tourism growth.

Dickinson reflected fondly on his time with Qatar Tourism, stating his pride in the achievements made and the strong foundation set for continued momentum. He conveyed warm wishes to the Qatar Tourism team and expressed eagerness to maintain connections with industry colleagues in future endeavours.
