Saudi Arabia is set to unveil its pioneering cruise destination in the Red Sea, promising a confluence of luxury and authentic Saudi culture.

    • The exclusive island will cater to up to 2,000 passengers, featuring amenities such as a welcome centre, dining options, and luxurious beach facilities.
    • Cruise Saudi is spearheading this ambitious project, marking a significant stride in the nation’s cruise industry ambitions.
    • Contracts have been inked with PC Marine Services to bring this vision to life, contributing to Saudi’s Vision 2030.
    • Scheduled to open in December, the development is backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund, showcasing a blend of traditional and modern Saudi experiences.

Saudi Arabia is making waves in the cruise industry by developing its first private island destination in the Red Sea, aiming to offer tourists an unparalleled blend of luxury and cultural authenticity. The destination will initially accommodate up to 2,000 passengers at a time, boasting a welcoming centre, diverse dining options, and opulent beach club facilities including private villas and sun-beds. This project, spearheaded by the Public Investment Fund-backed Cruise Saudi, is slated for a December inauguration, set to become a new staple in the global cruise itinerary.

The destination is poised to offer a unique experience with day trips that highlight authentic Saudi culture and hospitality. In a strategic partnership, Cruise Saudi has collaborated with PC Marine Services, known for its proficiency in maritime infrastructure enhancements across Saudi Arabia’s ports such as Jeddah, Dammam, and Yanbu. The agreement underscores the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, seeking to diversify the nation’s economy and promote tourism.

Barbara Buczek, Cruise Saudi’s chief destinations experiences officer, remarked on the promising future this destination heralds for Saudi maritime tourism. She noted, “The creation of this new cruise destination in the Red Sea marks an exciting step in the development of Saudi’s cruise industry.” Her sentiments reflect the broader enthusiasm surrounding Saudi’s evolving tourism sector.

Further reinforcing the project’s significance, PC Marine Services’ Chief Executive, Adnan Alshareef, emphasised the company’s dedication to contributing to the region’s tourism infrastructure. “We recognise the importance of this remarkable opportunity to become a key contributor to the Kingdom’s marine infrastructure and the Saudi Vision 2030 by being a success partner with Cruise Saudi,” Alshareef stated. His insights underline the project’s alignment with national economic and cultural objectives.

This development signals a transformative phase for Saudi Arabia’s cruise and tourism sector, blending luxury and culture in the heart of the Red Sea.
