Snowdonia Travel has opened a second branch in Prestatyn, demonstrating resilience after the challenges posed by Covid.

    • The initial branch had just started in Colwyn Bay when the pandemic struck.
    • Despite early challenges, the Colwyn Bay branch experienced a robust recovery post-lockdown.
    • Darren Owen attributes part of his success to strong community support and expert staff.
    • The new Prestatyn branch employs six staff, collectively offering extensive travel expertise.

Snowdonia Travel, a travel agency owned by industry veteran Darren Owen, has launched a new branch in Prestatyn. This expansion comes after the agency’s first branch in Colwyn Bay had only a brief six-month operation before the pandemic impact hit. The resilience of this venture is indicative of both a robust business model and significant community backing.

The Colwyn Bay store, though challenged initially, witnessed a strong resurgence once travel restrictions were eased. Owen’s strategic foresight and adaptability have been critical in navigating the tumultuous travel landscape during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. “We had phenomenal encouragement from the local community,” Owen remarked, emphasizing the support received.

The new branch in Prestatyn, staffed by six skilled professionals, boasts over 130 years of combined travel industry experience. This expertise will underpin the agency’s offerings, which range from cruise and package holidays to long-haul and city breaks, catering to a diverse clientele.

Darren Owen’s journey from redundancy at Thomas Cook to establishing his own travel business highlights his determination and industry acumen. The decision to open a second branch reflects both the success of the Colwyn Bay outlet and the high demand for expert travel services in the region.

Linda Pyle, director at Brilliant Travel, highlighted Owen’s achievements, stating, “His loyalty to his customers and community – as well as his breadth of knowledge – has stood him in great stead.” The collaboration with Brilliant Travel has provided essential support, particularly during the uncertainty of the pandemic.

Snowdonia Travel’s continued growth underscores the durability of dedicated service and community support in the face of unprecedented challenges.
