    Tui Group’s Response to FTI Touristik’s Insolvency

    Following the insolvency of FTI Touristik, Tui Group steps in to assure their summer plans.

    In the wake of FTI Touristik’s insolvency, Tui Group emerges as a stabilising force for travellers and hoteliers alike. The company stresses its dedication to ensuring that all booked summer holidays take place as anticipated, easing concerns of those affected by this unforeseen disruption. Tui’s proactive measures underline their commitment to mitigating the impact of this event on its customers and partners.

    Tui is engaged in consultations and negotiations with hotel partners, stakeholders, and local authorities across crucial destinations such as Spain, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, and the UAE. These discussions are pivotal in navigating the complexities posed by the collapse of FTI, reflecting Tui’s strategic approach to problem-solving in these regions.

    Within this collaborative framework, Tui has entered into an agreement with the Germany Travel Assurance Fund, undertaking support for customers booked through FTI to destinations including the Balearic Islands, Greece, Maldives, Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. This initiative underscores their commitment to maintaining the travel plans and expectations of affected clients.

    Chief Executive Sebastian Ebel expressed empathy for the guests and employees affected, describing the situation as ‘disheartening news’ but reaffirmed the company’s resolve to explore all possible avenues to assist those impacted. Ebel highlighted his discussions with Turkish tourism officials and the opportunities being developed to offer alternative travel options.

    Helen Caron, Tui’s Group Director of Product and Purchasing, reiterated the firm’s unwavering commitment to its hotel partners, recognising the significant cancellations of bookings from Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. She indicated current talks aimed at supporting hoteliers during these challenging times.

    Tui Germany Managing Director Stefan Baumert announced plans to introduce ‘special booking conditions’ in Germany and the Netherlands. Recognising the importance of the summer holiday season, Baumert aims to offer compelling deals to existing FTI clients as well as prospective customers.

    Mirjam Chlouba, leading Tui’s crisis response team, emphasized the quick efforts to support FTI guests at their destinations, highlighting the cooperative spirit within the German travel industry to ensure a seamless experience for travellers during this crisis.

    Tui Group’s swift and coordinated efforts showcase their dedication to supporting affected travellers and stakeholders, ensuring planned holidays proceed smoothly.
