    US Private Equity Firm Invests in AmaWaterways

    A significant development is underway as a US private equity firm invests in AmaWaterways.

    A significant event unfolds in the river cruise industry as L Catterton, a US-based private equity firm, acquires a substantial, undisclosed stake in AmaWaterways. This stake is being transferred from a consortium led by global investment firm Certares. L Catterton has pledged its support for AmaWaterways’ ongoing growth efforts, partnering with founders Rudi Schreiner, Kristin Karst, and the Murphy family, all of whom will remain actively involved.

    Rudi Schreiner, one of the founders, expressed enthusiasm about this new partnership, stating, “This is an exciting new chapter for AmaWaterways. L Catterton brings unique insight into today’s customers, as well as exciting ideas on how we can collaborate to capitalise on various growth opportunities within our business. They share our passion for innovation and an unwavering commitment to creating unparalleled guest experiences.” This partnership is expected to drive significant developments in AmaWaterways’ river cruise offerings.

    L Catterton’s flagship fund co-managing partner, Marc Magliacano, highlighted the strategic importance of this venture, mentioning that the growing consumer interest in luxury travel necessitates curated, memorable experiences. He said, “We look forward to leveraging our global network and deep expertise across travel to identify new growth opportunities and thoughtful expansion initiatives, whilst empowering the innovative and pioneering spirit that has driven AmaWaterways’ success over the last two decades.”

    Jennifer Reid, another partner at L Catterton, praised the ongoing excellence of AmaWaterways, stating, “The company continues to delight both guests and their cherished travel advisor partners, driven by its commitment to delivering first-of-its-kind ships, high-quality dining, wellness offerings, and exciting excursions to create an unmatched immersive experience.
