    • The study analysed factors like meals, local transport, and accommodation, determining a total cost to rank the destinations

A new study has revealed that Kilkis is the most affordable destination in Greece.

Travel experts Acropolis Tickets & Tours analysed average costs for holiday essentials, like meals, transport, and accommodation, ranking the destinations from most to least affordable.

Kilkis tops the list, with a total cost of £519.65.  The mainland city had the lowest median price for a week’s accommodation, at £479.04, and the cheapest cost for a three-course meal for two people at a mid-range restaurant, at £15.95.

Farsala, the second-most affordable destination in Greece, has a total cost of £567.84. For a week’s worth of accommodation, the median price is £493.44.

Agrinio ranks third with a total cost of £587.83. The city ranks third for the lowest average taxi fare, as the average price per kilometre travelled in a taxi is £0.84, while the median price for a week’s accommodation is £520.18.

Orestiada places fourth for its total cost of £601.27. A one-way ticket for local transport costs £0.67 on average, the second-lowest price on the list, and the median cost for a week’s accommodation is £533.40.

With a total cost of £608.48, Drama is in fifth place. The northeastern city has the second-lowest average price for a regular cappuccino, at £1.79, and for a week’s worth of accommodation, the median price is £548.39.

Magdalena Petrusic, a travel expert from Tours & Tickets, commented on the findings, “Greece isn’t typically seen as a budget-friendly destination, with popular spots like Mykonos and Santorini often drawing visitors despite being the priciest on the list!

“There are so many places on the mainland worth visiting that won’t drain your savings, like Kilkis, which has endless natural beauty, history, and cultural events.

“If you’re a classic Brit and want a place for a cheap pint, you’ll find one in Argos for £2.10, so keep that in mind too!”
