London City Airport announces record seats to Ibiza for winter 2015

British Airways is planning to offer a record 26,000 seats from London City Airport to Ibiza next winter, the airport said in a release.

British Airways is the only airline to operate from London City to Ibiza during the winter, the release said, adding that starting October the airline will offer almost 50 per cent more capacity than last year. The one-way hand baggage only winter fares from London City to Ibiza start from £71 are available to book on ba.com/londoncity.

With its warmer climates and year-round leisure activities, Ibiza – an island in the Mediterranean Sea and one of largest of the Balearic Islands – is a popular holiday destination among British travellers.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways’ general manager commercial at London City, said: ‘Ibiza has long been a popular summer destination but the island is now attracting thousands of visitors looking for some winter sun and alternative places to visit.

‘It’s a great short break destination, and with our year-round flights customers can board an aircraft in the heart of London and be in the sun in under two and a half hours.’

Carmen Sanchez, director of the Ibiza Tourist Board said: ‘The Ibiza Tourist board is delighted that British Airways is further increasing flights to Ibiza for winter 2015/2016. The airline has always been very supportive of the destination and has continued to increase its London City to Ibiza route since its launch in 2010.

‘The capacity increase is testament to the appeal of the island throughout the winter when the balmy climate, scenery, UNESCO culture and relaxed atmosphere make Ibiza an ideal break from the UK winter.’

The extra flights will operate on a 98-seat Embraer 190 jet. All British Airways fares include free seat allocation and online check-in 24 hours before departure, complimentary refreshments and drinks, and no debit card charges.
